What We Do

I am supremely grateful for programs like One Love and if it weren’t for people like Tim volunteering to come into prisons I never would have realized the peace that graces my life.

Even though I am a Lifer, I get to share this peace with other inmates who are going home as well as my loved ones at home with whom I am still in contact.

Classes:

  • 2-hour meditation classes that provide the space where students can relax, meditate and experience more peace. We listen and share with each other. We lift each other up. We show them how they can continue their practice of meditation outside of class.

  • Classes for officers and staff. We receive great feedback on the relaxation prison staff experiences in our class. We have even done a quick 5 minute class!

  • A weekly 2-hour class that can last one, two, three months and even indefinitely depending on location.

  • Customized classes and programs to fit the needs of each prison.

Benefits of One Love Prison Meditation Project:

We provide the necessary emotional and spiritual support to those in prison. Many feel they don’t matter or are forgotten. We say they do matter and they are worthy of love. This is why our in person classes are so important. They state unequivocally that you do matter and we are all here to support your growth and well being.

The meditations we do create an experience of peace and lightness. Our students are able to live more positively in challenging circumstances.

How does meditation help?

Meditation is an opportunity to see and experience the different emotions and thoughts that are going on inside us without reacting. We simply notice these thoughts and feelings as we sit quietly for meditation. This gives us a better understanding of ourselves and more freedom of choices on how we want to react. Most importantly, as we meditate those “typical” emotions and thoughts give way to deeper experiences of peace and calm.

Meditation is extremely beneficial in a place like prison.

Our students are very enthusiastic and desperate for that experience of peace. Meditation benefits the well being and safety of incarcerated individuals and staff. Over 90% of individuals in prison will be returning to the community and One Love Prison Meditation Program provides a much needed skill as they face the challenges of returning to the community.

We are currently conducting weekly classes in multiple prisons.

Your donations make these classes possible and increases the well being of our community. Your donation is tax deductible. Thank you for your support of One Love Prison Meditation Project.
